FHSD Stakeholders: Opponents or Neighbors?

Francis Howell Forward believes in civil dialogue and in learning from multiple perspectives. In the past, our meetings have always been public events where any stakeholder, including Francis Howell Families’ supporters, have been welcomed with open arms. We intend to continue this practice.

This week, however, when several parents attempted to attend a FHFamilies event which was advertised publicly and held on federal property. The invite stated, “Parents, come learn about your new rights in our schools.” (Invite shown below.)

When several parents attempted to attend, they were told the meeting was only for FHFamilies supporters, not “known opposition.” The parents were turned away at the door.

We understand that Board Directors Cook and Puszkar recently spoke at another, private FHFamilies event to discuss policy revisions awaiting approval (see below). We are now actively trying to determine if any board members also attended Tuesday night’s event.

We want our community to know that we share an interest in our children’s education, and we reject the notion we are anyone’s “opposition.”

We are taxpayers, neighbors, and parents, and we pledge to support candidates in the spring who understand the importance of #OneHowell.

It's time to restore civil discourse and put our children before divisive culture wars. #StandUpFHSD
